Japanese Film Week Opened

The Japanese Film Week grandly opened at the Shanghai International Convention Center yesterday. As a significant part of the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival£¬ it is co-organized by the organizing committee of Shanghai International Film Festival£¬ Shanghai Film Group and the executive's committee of Japan-Sino Friendship Film Festival in honor of the 35th anniversary of normalization of Sino-Japan relations.

There are 13 recent Japanese films to be screened for Chinese audiences. Masterpiece Love and Honor by famous director Yoji Yamada will be screened. Bizan come to the public attention for the famous director Isshin Inudou and the most popular actress Nanako Matsushima. Ancient costume drama O-OKU: the Movie is the first work of director Toru Hayashi. Tears for You£¬ Tokyo Tower£¬ Switch for Myself£¬ The Battery- Future in our Hands- all vividly show the living state and spirit world of Japanese people. The Japanese Film Week also aims to improve exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Japanese film insiders£¬ to enhance development of movies and to strengthen friendship.

Yoji Yamada£¬ famous director of The Yellow Handkerchief and a Distant Cry from Spring was present at the press conference before the opening ceremony. “It is the third time for me to participate in the Shanghai Film Festival. I hope to make friends with Shanghai filmmakers through the activity and I’d like to extend my gratitude to Shanghai International Film Festival£¬” said Yoji Yamada. It is reported that tickets of his movie Love and Honor are sold out.

The leading actress Kaori Momoi in the film paid a high compliment on Chinese film insiders. “I get along well with ZHANG Ziyi and GONG Li. I feel that Chinese actors and actresses all have perseverance and their performances are very nature.” In the end she didn’t forget to thank Shanghai International Film Festival. “It is my second time to come here. I hope I have the honor to be invited here every time.”

Besides, this year’s Japanese Film Week will provide the exchange platform for Chinese and Japanese professionals of the animation industry. Various kinds of artistic shows£¬ seminars and lectures on animation will be held during the Japanese Film Weekl.
