A press conference on the new direction of the animation field was held at Shanghai Film Center yesterday afternoon. Wang Tianyun, vice president of Shanghai Film Group, attended this conference. The trailer of Warrior, an ethnic animation epic movie jointly produced by Shanghai Film Group and Shanghai Animation Film Studio as well as other Sino-Australian movie clips were put on the screen at the conference. After four years' production, Warrior, the trailblazer of ethnic animation movie with an investment of 15 million Yuan, will be released across China at the end of June. The movie depicts the story of a vengeful£¬ young Inner Mongolian boy turning into a hero. The production team consisted of famous animation film producers who went to visit China's Inner Mongolia on four occasions in order to experience life there so as to accurately capture the vibrant culture of the area. The harmony between human and nature are well displayed by showing the pictures of the dramatic£¬ poetic plains. Honesty£¬ brotherhood, faith and straightforwardness are the themes of the movie which also encourages people never give in to adversity. "The characters modeling in the movie are unparalleled." Famous director Luc Besson showed his admiration for the ethnic features of Warrior. The voice-over team of the movie is also quite prestigious. Chinese famous stars, Sun Nan, Huang Yi, Wang Ji, Li Yang, all enthusiastically contributed their voices without charging a performance fee for the soundtrack of the film. Suan Yu Tian (Sour and Sweet), a short animated film, embodies a special blend of Chinese and Western culture and was produced with the cooperation of Shanghai Animation Film Studio and Australian partners. With the runtime of twenty minutes, the film is about the story of a stray dog attracted by rich Chinese cuisine and culture. This short film shows the collision between Chinese culture and Western culture and serves as an outstanding amalgamation of Chinese and Western animation technology. It also achieves the combination of ink-water painting with 3-dimensional animation technology. With the cooperation of Shanghai and Taiwan animation studio, Liang Shanbo Yu Zhu Yingtai (the Butterfly Lovers, a Chinese version of Romeus and Juliet) was screened simultaneously in Chinese Mainland and Taiwan Province during the Spring Festival of 2004. The film achieved a great box-office success. In 2007, Shanghai Animation Film Studio and Taiwan Huada Culture Communication Co., Ltd cooperated again and produced the animated film, Yu Gong Yi Shan (Where There is a Will There is a Way), which is a perfect combination of 3-dimensional technology and traditional Chinese calligraphy. |
