Famous for his participation with the movie, A Brighter Summer Day, Nicolas Tse has always been a wonderful supporting actor on the international scale. This time in the film, The Go Master, directed by Tian Zhuangzhuang, he is featured as the leading actor. At the interview, Nicholas said that he is not interested in competing for leading roles of movies. Instead, he always keeps a low profile. He said: " Acting is similar to riding a roller-coaster. Nobody can always be a leading actor forever, and same rules apply to being a supporting actor." Nicholas revealed during his interview that it was his first time to perform a real character in the film, The Go Master. " The initial preparations for acting the part really stressed me out. It took me a while to learn the game Go, as well as the Japanese language. I joined the production team long ago when the director had just started looking for locations to shoot the movie. I hope that I could share the understanding of the film with the director and understand his angle of shooting. " said Nicolas. At the beginning, he had limited knowledge of Wu Qingyuan, the master of Go. He strove to know more about the character by researching background information about Wu Qingyuan and by listening to the director' s interpretations of the character. Cooperating with many famous actresses with many different styles, Nicholas showed his admiration for the famous actress Gong Li, when he was asked which actress he likes the most. " Besides her authenticity as an artist on the screen, Gong Li considers effective communication and interaction among actors as the most essential part in making a successful film. Under her guidance, I have learned how to concentrate and integrate the essence of the character into myself in order to bring the whole acting process to a higher level. " Nicholas added. |
