Han Sanping (Chairman of China Film Group) Attends the Film Forum

A forum was held yesterday to promote cooperation between Chinese and overseas film makers, as a key event of the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Twelve heavyweights in the film industry made speeches at the forum, including Zhang Pimin (Deputy Director-General of Film Administration Bureau of State Administration of Radio, Film and TV) , Han Sanping (Chairman of China Film Group and president of China Film Producer Association) Kim Joo-sung (president of South Korea' s CJ Entertainment) , Kang Yan (vice president of Shanghai Media and Entertainment Group) , Michael Stephens (President of New Zealand Asia-Pacific Film Fund) and Teddy Zee (president of Ironpond) .

Zhang Pimin, deputy director of Film Administration Bureau of State Administration of Radio, Film and TV, made a keynote speech at the forum.

"China has developed cooperation with Belgium, Netherlands and Germany in film making, thanks to the Sino-European film forum held at last year' s festival. This year' s forum expands the scope of cooperation, which increases opportunities for Chinese film makers to find foreign partners, " said he.
"The co-productions between Chinese and overseas film companies should make innovations in the style and genres of the co-productions and better suit the tastes of audiences."

Han Sanping, chairman of China Film Group and president of China Film Producer Association, shared his opinion on how to use foreign investment and technology to promote the development of China' s film industry.

"China' s rapid economic development in the past three decades has greatly boosted the growth of its cultural industry. China has seized the golden opportunity to develop its film sector, a backbone of the cultural industry, " said Han.

China Film Group yesterday reached cooperation deals with Japanese and South Korean film producers, which seek to sell their films and television programs abroad.

Film companies from the United States and several European countries also showed their interest in co-production.

Held at Crowne Plaza Hotel Shanghai, the forum is evolved from the Sino-European film forums and the Sino-Japanese film forums held at previous festivals.
