Synopsis:

The story is set in 1942, Burma. A small unit of Chinese Expedition get lost in the jungle. They come across a unit of Japanese troops trapped in there too. After exchanging fires, the two groups are led into Prome--a lost ancient civilization where the Promeans are still living an ancient life due to being out of touch with the outside world for centuries.

Xue, the captain of the Expedition and Watanabe Shinobi, the leader of the Japanese troop are both trying to make use of the Promeans to defeat the opponent. However, both have to gain mutual trust with the Promeans before they make any advances.

The Chinese soldier Chen is kidnapped by the Promeans to serve as a sacrifice together with two Japanese soldiers captured before. Chen ceases the slaughter by a Zippo lighter. Watanabe and Xue decide to unite together to rescue the captured.
The rescue goes well and they even have captured a few Promeans. During the escort, the two groups get into fight again, costing the lives of Chen and the two Japanese soldiers.

Watanabe tries to take the Promean captives from Xue, and they exchange fierce fire again. The Chinese group are led into the ancient kingdom by a Promean girl, while the Japanese troops break into the city. Watanabe is wounded when he tries to stop his troops to ruin the old architectures. Xue takes the injured Watanabe into the ancient city.

After gaining Xue's trust, Watanabe starts to take photos and make drawings of the ancient city. A Promean woman Ding falls in love with Watanabe. From the woman, Watanabe gets to know that the city has a secret passage leading up to the outside world. Xue warns his people to watch out when he finds Watanabe missing, but it is too late. A huge Japanese troop has entered the ancient city, leaving no Chinese soldiers alive. Xue survives and flees the city by water.

Watanabe blows up the ancient city and brings the photos and paintings back to Japan where he publishes an anthropologic work called The Guardian of Prome.

Director's Statement:
Civilization will be a commercial film featuring war and adventure. At the same time, it will look at the process of civilization spread in a commercial outfit.

The spread of civilization depends on expansion, invasion and religion where both destruction and creation exist. Under this concept, I will use plain methods but beautiful visual effects to realize this film.
